Who is the guide?
The main guide, Tori Tan (see photo left) is a UK citizen, born and raised in South Africa, who spent two years in Canada before moving to Singapore permanently in 1995. A licensed STB (Singapore Tourism Board) Tourist Guide since 2007 & a volunteer guide at the National Museum of Singapore since 2008, she has been fascinated & intrigued by Singapore’s history for more than 15yrs since first moving here and experiencing Singapore’s unique cultural, racial and religious diversity. |
She has spent most of her spare time researching Singapore’s history & culture, and has accumulated an extensive personal library along with numerous bulging ring-binders full of research notes! After years of taking on the role of an unofficial tourist guide to various family members and friends visiting Singapore, she finally made it official in 2007 and obtained her license from the STB. Her greatest wish is to share her passion for Singapore’s history and culture along with the knowledge accumulated through years of research so that visitors to the island will be left with a lasting impression of its unique and fascinating past and present.
